The actor Eric Roberts He publicly apologized to his sister Julia Roberts for saying “false” things about her in the past.
Previously, Eric had taken responsibility for Julia’s career, saying that he made her famous.The claim was most notably made in a 2018 Vanity Fair interview, in which she also discussed her daughter, American Horror Story star b.
Now, He admitted that it was “stupid to have said that” about Julia in her new memoir, Runaway Train: Or the Story of My Life So Far.
He explained: “One of the things I would like to apologize for in this book is for having said publicly on more than one occasion, ‘If it weren’t for me, there would be no Julia Roberts’… That is not only unfortunate, it is also false. And I hope Julie accepts this more public apology. “It was a stupid thing to say. I was proud of her, but it was pride in reverse, for my own benefit” (via Entertainment Weekly).
He went on to say that Julia did not need any help to get to where she got and become one of the most celebrated actresses in Hollywood. “She is a very motivated woman”he continued. “Someone would have pulled her out of the crowd in a place like New York without my help.”
Later in the same chapter, Eric goes on to say that he thought his sister’s seeing his acting career blossom in New York might have inspired her. Eric is a prolific character actor in American film and television, and early in his career earned a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination. He is best known for his roles in The Dark Knight, The Expendables and Runaway Train and has accumulated more than 700 credits in total.
He continued: “I was born to do this. I moved to New York City when I wasn’t even old enough to drink a beer in public… If Julie had stayed in Atlanta, she probably would have married some rich guy and lived a very different life. So I’ll take credit for, once I split up with my father (or thought I had) and moved to New York City, saying to my sisters, ‘Come on, girls, the water’s fine. ’ That’s when, I think, she saw my life as a young actor in New York, and she saw what I was doing for a living, and she wanted to give it a try.”
He explained how his two sisters, Julia and Lisa, moved with him to New York, but difficulties arose due to his drug use.
“They never imagined I would become so difficult,” Eric wrote. “That’s why Julie and Lisa soon wanted a place of their own. I was already very involved in drugs. They lived with me for almost a year and then I got them a place of their own.”.
Robert went on to say that he paid for his sisters’ apartment for a year. “I needed my privacy because I was a very crazy guy who wanted to do crazy things, but I had enough common sense to take care of them, get them out of my apartment and put them out of harm’s way.”

The two have had a turbulent relationship over the years. His problems with addiction led to a split from his partner Kelly Cunningham and Julia funded Cunningham’s legal fees during a custody battle over their daughter Emma.
They are believed to have repaired their relationship somewhat, but Eric also recently stated during an appearance on the Still Here Hollywood podcast that talking about his sister is off-limits.
“I love my sister very much, but I can’t talk about her. She doesn’t want to talk about it.”said.
He added that Emma had also told him “not to talk about her” but he couldn’t resist showering her with praise anyway.
“I’m in love with my daughter’s work these days. I can’t believe how great she’s become. I’m so proud of her that I can’t see straight.
