The Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) will adjust the value of the Fixed Unit in September, this is the indicator used by the authorities to determine the amount of traffic fines and sanctions.

This decision was made through Regulatory Decree 64/22. Its last update was made in March and the amounts that today show a maximum of $ 1,885,560 will be maintained until the first quarter of 2025.

A positive fact for those who must pay these fines is that they can set up payment plans of up to 12 installments and use more than one card at a time to cover the total amount of the fine.

How the value of the Fixed Unit is calculated for fines in CABA

Traffic fines are measured based on the Fixed unit that is the value equivalent to half a liter of gasoline of higher octane reported by the Argentine Automobile Club (ACA). Therefore, every time the price of gasoline increases, the Fixed Unit and the value of traffic fines will increase at the same time.

Currently, running a red light in CABA costs between $94,179 and $707,085 depending on certain factors.

It is important to remember that those who do not pay these fines on time and in the correct manner will have their fines added to their account until the time comes to renew the registration or carry out some procedure, and they will not be able to do so until everything is covered.

  • Fine for speeding when traveling at more than 20 km/h: $32,997.30.
  • Fine for speeding when travelling at more than 150 km/h: up to $1,885,560.
