What is “Lanterns” about?
Lanterns is described as a series with a gritty, true-detective feel as it centers on Jordan, who reluctantly mentors a younger Lantern, John Stewart, who in DC’s publishing history was one of the company’s first black superheroes. The story finds the two characters investigating a murder on Earth with larger implications. Sources say DC and the producers are looking for a younger, fresher-faced actor to play the role opposite a bigger, older name.
DC was initially looking for a movie star to take on the role of Jordan and had been in talks with Josh Brolinwho ultimately turned down the offer. And while rumors abounded that actors like Chris Pine either Ewan McGregor were next on the list, that turned out to be mostly an illusion.
