Through the World Heart Federation, since 2000, World Heart Day has been celebrated every September 29, also with the support of the WHO, which designated this day. The main objective is to disseminate on the largest possible scale information about the care of the organ and the prevention of cardiovascular diseases that have a high mortality rate and difficulty in their treatment.

Currently, these types of diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide. Among the most common are myocardial infarctions and strokes, which claim a total of approximately 17 million lives each year. It is estimated that this number will rise to 23 million by 2030.
