The General Secretary of the Private Oil Tankers Union of Río Negro, Neuquén and La Pampa issued harsh warnings about a possible conflict in the oil industry. “If there are no doors to open, the only way left is conflict,” He said in a message addressed to the companies that, according to him, have not responded to salary and labor claims.
In front of a key assembly next Tuesday, October 1 in Añelo, Rucci made it clear that workers’ patience is running out. The main point of conflict is the lack of salary improvements, despite the growth of the industry.

The oil sector was one of the most benefited in the global economy in recent years due, first, to the post-pandemic lack of confidence and then to the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
Private oil workers demand a salary increase
“(the salary) has not improved at all,” said the union leader.in a fight with the companies in the sector. “The only area where we made progress was in safety, and that was because we had to stand firm after a string of fatal accidents. Now, at least, the worker returns home. Before, they returned mutilated or did not return at all,” he added.
“The effort of the workers is immense, but the companies are not willing to return that effort. “We have spent years supporting this industry, even when wages were miserable,” Rucci stated in an interview for the program “Desafío Energético” on Channel 9 of Neuquén, referring to the crisis during the pandemic and the impact on salaries. “We have managed to collect only 50% of salaries, and now that the industry has benefits, the workers are not recognized. It is unacceptable,” he added.
The unionist’s frustration also focused on what he defined as the inconsistency between the industry’s successes and the treatment of employees. “While the country celebrates its oil and gas export records, workers still do not see a weight of all that. It seems that they do not need workers, but slaves,” Rucci denounced harshly.
The union leader emphasized that workers are increasingly left out of important industry decisions. “They have us on the side. Any business or agreement is made without counting on the workers. It’s like we’re not part of all this growth. Until they start working with respect towards us, the industry will not take off as it should.”
Vaca Muerta: strong expectations of businessmen to reach 1 million barrels of oil
Within the framework of the celebration of the 110 years of Shell Argentinabusinessmen in the sector were optimistic about the future, dreaming of going from being a country with oil to being an oil country.
The most enthusiastic was the president of YPF, Horacio Marinwho assured that they are about to close commercial agreements with India, Germany and Hungary for the sale of Argentine LNG and reiterated that with the deepening of activity in Dead Cow plus the plans for Liquefied Natural Gas, the energy sector will export US$30,000 million.
“Vaca Muerta has to move on to the development phase, I am convinced that we are going to have LNG with 30 million tons and that Argentina is going to pass the million barrels in the next decade, that we will begin to export 30,000 million dollars in energy “Starting in 2031, we are going to do it among all the companies,” he said during a hand-in-hand panel with journalist José del Río.
