Butter and cheese sandwiches can harm the heart and pancreas. This was stated by candidate of medical sciences gastroenterologist Sergei Vyalov.
“Rejecting a sandwich is painful for the soul. To agree is painful for the heart or pancreas,” he wrote on his Instagram page.
The doctor explained that fat, especially of animal origin, is the most high-calorie, harmful, but nutritious element. Fatty foods are high in cholesterol and triglycerols. According to the doctor, if a person eats a lot of fat in one sitting, this requires hard work from the pancreas and liver.
“If there were too many sandwiches and if alcohol is attached to them, bile can be thrown into the pancreatic ducts. It activates enzymes earlier than expected, which begin to digest its own pancreas. Hence acute pancreatitis,” the doctor warned.
Vyalov explained that it is not so important for the heart how many sandwiches are eaten today, but it is much more important whether a person will eat them every day.
“More importantly, are you going to repeat this procedure tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and then the day after tomorrow. The more animal fat you eat, the higher the level of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood and the faster atherosclerosis develops, ”said the gastroenterologist.
The specialist added that he does not call for abandoning sandwiches with butter at all, but advises eating them occasionally. He stressed that the diet should be more vegetable and less animal fat.
On January 2, laboratory diagnostics doctor of the LabQuest network of medical offices, Anna Safonova, named products that are dangerous for the pancreas. So, meals high in fat, fast carbohydrates, convenience foods, pastries, carbonated drinks can provoke inflammation of the pancreas – pancreatitis.
The doctor also attributed overweight, nutritional imbalance, smoking and alcohol abuse to risk factors for developing pancreatitis. Monitoring the state of the pancreas is also necessary for patients diagnosed with cholelithiasis (cholelithiasis), as well as for people who have undergone surgery on the organs of the gastrointestinal tract, Safonova noted.
