More than 13 thousand rescuers and almost 2.5 thousand pieces of equipment will ensure the safety of Epiphany bathing in all regions of Russia. This was reported on Monday, January 17, in the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
“In total, more than 13,000 rescuers, 2,450 pieces of equipment, including about 200 watercraft and hovercraft, will be on duty at the open fonts,” the report says.
It is planned to organize more than 3 thousand bathing places. They are planned to be equipped with safe descents to the water, tents for changing clothes and heating. Also, a prerequisite in authorized places of the ceremony is the duty of rescuers, police and doctors.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the authorities of the subjects may restrict the holding of mass events, reports RT.
Earlier that day, it became known that more than 40 ambulance teams would be on duty in the Moscow region during Epiphany bathing, writes RIAMO.
An immunologist, doctor of medical sciences Vladislav Zhemchugov told Izvestia about contraindications for swimming in an ice hole. The specialist emphasized that for such bathing it is necessary to have a completely healthy heart, as well as experience in hardening.
According to Yevgeny Tishkovets, a leading employee of the Phobos weather center, on Epiphany, on January 19, frosts will hit Moscow, but not extreme ones – at night up to minus 12.
