US elections: Forbes revealed the list of billionaires who support Kamala Harris and Donald Trump

US elections: Forbes revealed the list of billionaires who support Kamala Harris and Donald Trump

Less than a month until United States elections where you will facen Donald Trump and Kamala HarrisForbes shared a list of billionaires who support each of the candidates. In his view, 76 billionaires support Harris while 49 support Trump. Another characteristic is that although there are few businessmen who publicly support one or the other candidate, the majority decided to stay out of the electoral contest.

One by one: some of the billionaires who do not express themselves in favor of any candidate

  • Jeff Bezos: The Amazon founder and world’s fourth-richest man wrote that Trump “showed tremendous grace and bravery under fire” following the assassination attempt at a July 13 campaign rally. However, he did not support him financially, even though he publicly spoke out in favor of Trump during his presidency. He celebrated Biden’s election in 2020 with an Instagram post noting that the Democratic victory indicated that “unity, empathy and decency are not characteristics of a bygone era.”
  • Warren Buffett: In 2020, the Berkshire Hathaway CEO said he is a Democrat and hit back at Trump for an income tax joke he made in 2016. Buffett, the world’s sixth-richest person, also remained neutral this cycle.
  • Mark Zuckerberg: according to Trump’s statement to the magazine New York Magazine, Zuckerberg told him he can’t “vote for a Democrat in this election” after the assassination attempt. But a Meta spokesperson said that the third richest person on the planet does not support anyone in this race and did not tell anyone how he plans to vote. In 2020, Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan donated $419 million to democratic organizations supporting voting during the pandemic. The Meta CEO and Facebook co-founder called Trump’s reaction to the assassination attempt ‘great’ in an interview in July.
  • Bill Gates: Although his ex-wife French Gates is among Harris’s strongest supporters (her $13 million donation to Democratic groups would put her among the top individual donors this cycle), the Microsoft co-founder has not officially endorsed any candidate. But he seemed to lean toward Harris in an interview in July, when he said, “It’s great to have someone younger, who can think about issues like AI and how we shape it in the right way.”
  • Jamie Dimon: Trump shared a fake message on social media touting Dimon’s endorsement, but the CEO of JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank in the United States, did not endorse any candidate, according to his spokesperson. Still, some see clues in his statements. He spoke openly about the elections, even signing an editorial in the Washington Post in which he urges voters to “elect a president who is dedicated to the ideals that define and unite us.”
  • Ray Dalio: The founder of the world’s largest hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates, told the CNBC that this is the “most consequential” election, but that he will not support Harris or Trump, since he wants a more moderate candidate.
  • Sergey Brin: The Google co-founder and eighth-richest person in the world said after the 2016 election that he found Trump “deeply offensive” as an immigrant, according to an internal video leaked in 2018, but he did not make any sentiments public during this cycle.
