The person in charge of announcing it was the presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorniwho said in his usual press conference: “Indeed, the Ministry of Economy, through the Ministry of Transportation, has just published the tender for the concessioned sections of the federal road network.”

“This new system makes it possible to break with an almost monopolistic participation that today is limited to road contracting companies”said the official while adding: “Today the participation of any private company that complies with the requested guarantees is enabled.”

The road corridors tendered under this modality will be audited by the agency. The plan foresees a total investment that will exceed US$12,500 M for the first five years and about US$4,200 M for the next ten years.

Along the same lines, the presidential spokesperson explained that the application of new rates “will be subject to the completion of the works that improve the condition of the routes.” In the Executive They argue that Corredores Viales has a deficit of US$30 million and that “it did not meet the minimum standards of operation and maintenance.”

The companies that are finally concessionaires will only collect the award fee once they have put the entire route in condition. In this way, they estimate that the State will have savings of US$5,600.

Corredores viales SA is in charge of 10 sections of highways that cover the provinces of Santiago del Estero, Tucumán, Salta, Jujuy, Chaco, Buenos Aires, Corrientes, Misiones, San Luis, Córdoba, Santa Fe and Mendoza, and the Richerri Access to the City of Buenos Aires. In total, there are almost 6000 kilometers of routes.

Weeks ago, the Government also declared Argentine Airlines as a state company subject to privatization. The decision was made official through the publication of decree 873/2024 in the Official Gazette.
