Truly independent, conceived and always organized by Silvia Romero and Fabian Sanchohe Buenos Aires Unusual Film Festivalalias “the fun and intense festival,” begins its 19th today. edition, that is, it is the oldest of the independent film festivals in Argentina. The Funcinema of Mar del Plata has just turned 10 years old, and others, unfortunately, have fallen by the wayside.

With its well-earned prestige, and always with free admission, this year it presents more than a hundred diverse titles over two weekswith a lot of national amateur cinema, also several pieces from England and other countries (dramas, comedies, romances, horror), an interesting number of women filmmakers, a training space and new competition sections.


To get an idea, the most striking sections are Exquisite Miscellaneous, Reasons of the Heart, Experimentations, Hallucinating Zone and The Edge of Danger. Also some titles are quite curious, such as “Witches, they will cross the threshold”, “Living in Dogma”, “Yerba no hay”, “Before Laika”, “Narco naif”, “Who is Pipistrela Garmendia?”, “Where the worm does not die”, “Psychoflit ” either “Dead Man’s Love”.
Alternating with this material there are also documentaries such as “The Anger of the Uruguay River” (Marcelo Cugliari) and “The Generation of 60: The friendship that was unknown” (María Adela Gonzálezabout Manuel Antin and José Martínez Suárez). And a sub 20: in special presentation, “Art surrounds us”made by students from secondary school 58 of Llavallol.
