Financial drowning and desperation made him look for a horrible way out to end his problems.

Rakesh Kamal was a Software developer and millionaire businessman from the United States. Born in India, he lived with his family in Massachusetts, in a 21-room mansion. His wife’s name was Teena and her daughter Arianna. Apparently, they were on the margins of the financial situation.

His wife, Teena, had $1.25 million in life insurance. In case of death, Rakesh and Arianna had to collect it. But through a fax, the businessman decided to change the recipients, also including his brother. Days after that request, his wife and daughter were found dead, in a very suspicious situation.

Who was Rakesh Kamal, the billionaire who couldn’t pay his debts

Until the tragic episode, very little was known about the businessman’s financial situation. But in 2022, he filed for bankruptcy due to mortgage debt, a million-dollar loan, and a series of bad deals in and outside the Boston area. Furthermore, before the tragedy, the family had been ordered evicted from the Massachusetts mansion.

The following year, more precisely on the eve of Christmas 2023, Rakesh Kamal sent a fax to the insurer, with his wife’s signature, to request that the beneficiary assignments be changed. Before that fax, he was the primary recipient and his daughter Arianna was the backup. He then requested that she also be made the primary recipient so that she could add her brother Manoj as a backup recipient.

Just four days later, Rakesh murdered his wife with a .40 caliber Glock 22 and also his daughter Arianna in their own residence. After that, he committed suicide. His brother Manoj discovered the horrific episode and notified the authorities. He then filed a request to collect the life insurance money and sparked controversial legal proceedings.

As a result of the episode, the businessman’s financial problems came to light. A Maryland company claimed that he owed more than $760,000 that he lent his company in 2022. Also, Manoj had lent him half a million dollars, without telling his sister, Bedi.

Finally, it came to light that the mansion he bought in 2019 for $4 million was with money borrowed from the builder. They agreed to pay the mortgage in two years, but that never happened. And when the family was threatened with eviction, Rakesh committed the crime a few days later.
