The National Federation of University Teachers (CONADU) confirmed this Thursday that it will carry out a weekly unemployment “with visibility activities” from the October 21 to 26 in all faculties in the country. The announcement is made at the same time of the Government’s confirmation to begin audits in the universities.

This week of strike with activities will include previously announced 48-hour strike (from October 21 to 22) by other union entities. “We continue to mobilize in defense of the public university as we have done throughout the year,” the unions highlighted.

Audits in universities advance

The official also confirmed that the order of the houses of higher education to control will be determined”depending on volumes of funds and quality of agreements“. The process will begin by University of La Matanza (UNLaM).
If any suspicion of corruption appears in any of the audits, the case will be referred to the Anti-Corruption Office and the Administrative Investigations Prosecutor’s OfficeBlanco also explained.

CONADU called this week for a 48-hour strike for October 21 and 22after the ratification of the veto of the university financing law. They also called for a week of alert and mobilization starting next Monday.
“There are no negotiations of any kind with the government,” stated the Secretary General of CONADU, Carlos De Feoin a statement from the Federation. Furthermore, he concluded that “this lack of dialogue implies a very serious problem, because it has to do with the “breakdown of a democratic pact in Argentina”.
