On January 18, the Koptevsky court arrested for two months a man who made a brawl in a Moscow bus and insulted passengers. The 29-year-old suspect is charged with inciting ethnic hatred.
“The court granted the request of the investigation and chose a preventive measure for Shugaib Bolatukaev in the form of detention until March 16. He is accused in a case initiated under Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Inciting hatred against a national, social or religious group”),” the court said in a statement.
On January 16, a video was circulated on social networks, where a man came into conflict with the passengers of the bus and spoke negatively about them.
On the same day, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Moscow opened a criminal case into the incident. It was noted that in the actions of the young man “there are signs of a corpus delicti, namely inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity, committed with the threat of violence.”
A member of the Public Chamber of Dagestan, Alyuset Azizkhanov, said that the man who caused the scandal should be punished. In his opinion, his relatives and parents should also be responsible.
On January 17, the brawler apologized for the scandal on the bus. His parents publicly apologized the next day.
