Universities: they assure that 60% of Argentines are against Javier Milei’s veto

Weeks after the completion of the veto of Javier Milei to the law of University Financing, A survey revealed the anger of a large sector of the population with the Government for affecting the national universities. Almost 60% of those consulted were against the President’s decision.

According to the survey of Zuban Córdoba and Associateshe 59.3% of the people consulted questioned Milei’s veto against the law that promoted the expansion of the budget of study houses, as well as ordered an increase in the salary of workers in the sector. While 38.1% are in favor of the decision and 2.6% do not know or did not answer the question.

The report also reveals that for 99% of Argentines, the public university is the tool to grow as a country. while 80.7% agree that public universities help social mobility.

Furthermore, 60.9% disagree with the adjustment to universities34.8% agreed and 4.3% did not have a formed opinion or did not want to share their opinion on the matter.

91% disagree that public universities are an unnecessary expense. 86.4% consider that universities are a source of pride for Argentina and 76.2% reject the idea that the poor do not go to university. There is less agreement that universities should make more efficient use of their expenses (67.2% agree).

92% said they were proud of public universities

In the last hours, the consultant published another national report corresponding to the month of September of this year, where they focused on different aspects of the country’s society and politics, making a special axis in the management of Javier Milei, as well as in public education.

Within the framework of the protests rejecting the defunding by the government of President Javier Milei, 92% of Argentines said they were proud of the public university, as anticipated. Furthermore, those consulted determined that universities represent the greatest trust, with 71.5%. In addition, public health follows with 71% credibility and CONICET with 64.3%. Private universities appear further back.

Another important point of the study is based on the perception of the Government, where 57.3% disapprove of it compared to 42.3% approval of the libertarian management. The remaining 0.4% answered that they do not know. According to data from previous months, September was the highest month in terms of disapproval levels.
