The auditor Juan Martín Ozores eliminated resolutions linked to article 65 of Law 26,522, better known as the “Media Law” that were put into practice during the tenders.
He National Communications Entity (ENACOM) by the intervener Juan Martín Ozores eliminated key resolutions in force from 2017 to 2023, of the government of Mauricio Macri and Alberto Fernández, linked to the application of article 64 of the Audiovisual Communication Services Law (Law 26,522) publicly known as “Media Law”. Among the Resolutions included, the obligation for some signals to broadcast news of national and provincial interest was eliminated.
According to the Resolution 1094/2024 published in the Official Gazette, “corresponds annul the charges related to the payroll and the way of organizing signals members of the grids of subscription broadcasting service providers, imposed as a derivation of the requirements contained in article 65 of Law 26,522 and extended to all the holders of such licenses in order to equalize the conditions in the dissemination of content signals and the obligations that weighed on them”.
He article 65 of Law 26,522, “they set out obligations relating to signal payroll to be distributed by subscription broadcasting service licensees, derived from requirements imposed in the aforementioned legal norm, and included in the specifications and conditions that governed the respective awards.” The objective of the repeal of these regulations, according to the Government, is to “guarantee equality before the law” for all holders of the Argentina Digital Single License.
“This determination had the purpose of avoiding andl granting normative treatment more beneficial to certain licensees of the different subscription broadcasting services, depending on the media and technology used to provide the service,” the Resolution stated.
