AFIP blackout: how it affects procedures for taxpayers

After the president Javier Milei announced the dissolution of the Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP), the workers of that organization began a protest plan to demand the 3,000 jobs that according to the Government will be eliminated as a consequence of the transformation of the organization into the Collection Agency and Customs Control (ARCA).

In line with the strike, it is expected that in the coming days AFIP launches a new web service to manage the tax credit certificates corresponding to the value added tax (VAT). In this first stage, the tool will be available for projects registered in the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI) included in law 27,742 of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines.

New functionality will gradually replace existing procedures for the management of Tax Credit Certificates for value added tax contemplated in existing regimes, as well as those that correspond to new tax benefits and incentives. This way, the organization continues with the optimization of control systems early with more effective verifications and inspections.

The unions emphasized the layoffs that the restructuring will generate and the “uncertainty in labor rights” due to the alleged legal status of a new Control Collection Entity.

In addition, they will hold assemblies in the workplace and a computer blackout. “Our Union Organization, in a state of alert and permanent mobilization, will analyze the continuity and deepening of the measures in relation to the progress of the events,” they closed.
