On the night of January 18-19, a service was held in the church of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir on the occasion of the celebration of the Epiphany. This was announced on Wednesday, January 19, in the press service of the Russian Guard.
Employees of the Dzerzhinsky division of the Russian Guard with their families and residents of the city of Balashikha gathered at the service.
The rector of the temple, Archpriest Maxim Belikov, held a service and blessed the water. He wished all the parishioners to strengthen their faith and overcome all difficulties.
After the service, everyone could plunge into the font of the baptismal church of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste, located on the lower level of the temple complex.
On the same day, it was reported that Epiphany bathing began at the main temple of the Russian Armed Forces. Near the fonts, tents are equipped so that, having plunged into the water, the military could warm themselves with hot tea.
Previously, infectious diseases doctor, Professor Nikolai Malyshev named contraindications for Epiphany bathing in the hole. According to him, it is recommended to refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages, and it is also important to keep a distance due to the risk of worsening the epidemiological situation due to the coronavirus, and people with chronic diseases should refrain from swimming in the hole at all.
