AOG Patagonia 2024 closed with record number of exhibitors and visitors

Argentina Oil & Gas Patagonia 2024 closed its doors after three days, in a day where young people were the protagonists. With more than 17,000 visitors, the exhibition broke all records.

“The AOG Patagonia in Neuquén was a resounding success that exceeded all expectations,” indicated the IAPG organizers. According to what they said, the most important oil and gas exhibition in Argentina closed its doors last Friday after three days, with a day where young people were the protagonists. With more than 17,000 visitors, the Neuquén AOG broke all records.

“The halls were filled with visitors until the last moment and the auditoriums for talks and conferences were always full. The exhibition brought together all the actors in the hydrocarbon industry in the DUAM Space, with 100% of the premises occupied”they completed in an official statement.

After three days of business meetings, the Business Rounds linked buyers from the main oil and gas companies operating in the country with exhibiting companies that provide goods and services.

With more than 200 registered suppliers and 25 buyers, more than 1,500 meetings were held.

Activities at the AOG Patagonia 2024

The AOG PatagoniaIn addition, it had a schedule of academic activities, talks and conferences that offered a complete overview of the current situation in the sector, the trends and the challenges that lie ahead.

In a record edition, the JOG 8 (8th YOUTH OIL & GAS Day) was no exception. With the room full, it gave the opportunity to the new generations who were able to make contact with the main exponents.

At the opening, the director of Institutional Affairs of the IAPG, Martin Kindlexpressed: “We as a country have a very big challenge ahead of us, which is to value our energy resources. I have no doubt that the visions brought by young professionals will ensure that this century-old industry can face the challenge of developing oil and gas projects in this new world. “We are convinced that there is much to contribute to the development of global energy with a sustainable, efficient and environmentally safe vision.”

The block panel“Unconventional Upstream” was made up of Virginia DignaniYPF project leader; Daniel PicinDrilling, Completion and Workover Manager at Pan American Energy; and Matias WeisselVista Development and Execution Manager. With the moderation of Ariel Moyano, of Pan American Energy, and Magalí Aguirre, of Pluspetrol, the projects and challenges faced by both the companies and the Non-Conventional sector were raised.

They agreed that new generations are the key to innovation and technological evolution. Regarding the areas to specialize, they highlighted hard careers such as engineering, mathematics, science and the incorporation of soft qualities to be able to interact with different profiles that allow the integration of different areas and specializations.

The second block focused on “The challenges of the Conventional”. They participated: Leonardo DeccechisCOO of Petrolera Aconcagua Energía; Juan Manuel CeledonManager of the PHOENIX Conventional Regional; and Andres PonceExecutive Director UN Upstream of PECOM. And they moderated Joanna Villanovafrom Pan American Energy and Carolina Orce from Pluspetrol. The panel provided a general overview of the sector, new operators, conventional processes, production and operational strategies, and extraction.

The speakers recounted their experiences starting their professional careers in the industry and how they saw the evolution and transformation of the sector. They pointed out that the biggest challenge they face is being able to attract young people and keep them watching the Conventional with “good eyes.” dThey stressed that the sector needs young people so that they can contribute their ideas with innovative profiles, and add value to operations.

Under the theme “Midstream strategies and challenges”, In block 3 they presented Pía ArealPluspetrol Integrity Manager; and Pablo EriasCommercial Manager of TGN; with the moderation of Pablo Mendez from TGN and Candida Todesco, from Tenaris.

The panelists talked about the strategies that companies carry out, expansion plans and trends. With a more than optimistic vision for young people, they pointed out that the next generations of professionals are experiencing an ideal context for job placement in the industry – where the ceiling is unknown -, so they encouraged them to take advantage of the opportunities that arise. .

In the last block, “Enhancing talent for the future”, they exposed Deborah Colombinospecialist in Employer Branding and Development at Pan American Energy; Santiago SarachianSocial Responsibility Leader, Pluspetrol, and Gabriel HorowitzTechnical Leader in Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Management at YPF.

They indicated that the greatest challenge that young professionals have is not in mastering new technologies but in knowing how to apply them to be able to make decisions that lead to the transformation of the industry, evaluating the opportunities that arise.

Lecture series at the AOG

During this last day of the exhibition, a special activity dedicated to young students from technical schools in the region was also held.

“The Technical School visits the AOG – Disruptive Education in the Oil and Gas Industry”, counted with the dissertation of Conrado BonfiglioliDirector of the IAPG Virtual Technical School.

The 450 students who attended were enthusiastic after learning about the entire value chain of the Oil & Gas industry in one place.

Next, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission I carry on the talk: “Blind trust”, in charge of Gonzalo Vilariñoformer Technical Director of the “Los Murciélagos” team, which concluded with an interactive action in which the visitors participated.

When is the next AOG held and where?

The next edition of the AOG will take place in Buenos Aires, from September 8 to 11, 2025 at the La Rural Fairgrounds, organized by the Argentine Institute of Oil and Gas (IAPG) and made by Messe Frankfurt Argentina.
