Sakhalin fishermen lost in fast ice cracks in Mordvinov Bay

On Thursday, January 20, a group of fishermen got lost in ice cracks on the coast of the Korsakov region of Sakhalin. This was reported by the astv.ru portal, which also published footage taken by the victims.

Judging by the video, the fishermen tried to catch smelt in cracks on the fast ice, but lost their way and are now asking for help.

“Hacking the fast ice! We don’t know how to get back. Wanted to go back, but where to? Call for help, it’s called. Where to go? What to do?” — commented the author of the video.

As the publication clarified, the men scouted the ice field in the area, which received the popular name “Trynogi”. Fast ice has not yet formed in this area – hummocks and large cracks are visible all around.

Earlier, on December 21, it was reported that at least a dozen cars of fishermen on the Artemovka River in the Primorsky Territory fell through the wheels under the ice.
