A Red Book leopard in Primorsky Krai dragged a goat and tried to steal a ram from a private household. This was announced on January 19 by the press service of the National Park “Land of the Leopard”.
The incident occurred in the village of Olenevod, outside the territory of the “Land of the Leopard”. Meanwhile, the ANO “Far Eastern Leopards” compensated the farmers for their losses. Compensation for the loss of livestock from such incidents is carried out if there is evidence of the involvement of the predator and if the animals are grazed in fenced pens, the 360 TV channel notes.
The Far Eastern leopard tried to get a ram, but was frightened of the owners and disappeared into the forest. Although the ram was still alive, it had to be slaughtered. Three days later, the predator dragged the goat into the forest and has not shown itself to people since then, writes Gazeta.Ru.
It is specified that the site is located next to the forest. Usually the leopard hunts roe deer in this area, but this time the ram and goat turned out to be easier prey.
In August, a Far Eastern leopard, which had never been recorded by scientists before, was caught on video in the Land of the Leopard National Park in Primorsky Krai.
The Red Book predator was captured close-up in 4K on a mirrorless camera, which is equipped for automatic shooting. The video shows a male about a year and a half old.
