The Chinese shipowner of the container ship Rise Shine, which ran aground in Primorye, as well as its insurance company, do not contact the Russian Maritime Rescue Service regarding the removal of cargo and the ship, but rescuers have already pumped out a third of the fuel. This was announced on Friday, January 21, by the administration of the city of Nakhodka.
Ivan Agarevsky, director of the seaside branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Morspasluzhba”, said that the shipowner does not discuss with them the action plan for removing containers and removing the vessel.
“The issue of the removal of already removed fuel oil and the disposal of flooded oil products has not been resolved, the requests of the Marine Rescue Service to the shipowner and the insurance company that insured this ship from damage when the water area is polluted with fuel and the removal of the ship’s wreckage remain unanswered,” he said.
It is noted that rescuers daily monitor the state of the water area and the ship itself, and fuel pumping continues.
“To date, 109 cubic meters have been pumped out of the container ship. m of fuel oil and 8 [куб. м] – diesel fuel. The estimated balance is 188 cubic meters. m of fuel oil and 12 [куб. м] — diesel fuel,” the authorities say.
In addition, all petroleum products are in a frozen state. It is clarified that in order to resume work on their heating and pumping out, rescuers need at least five days of favorable weather conditions without wave and wind loads.
Earlier, on January 20, it was reported that the Chinese container ship Rise Shine, filled with oil products, has been rotting off the coast of the city of Nakhodka for the third month. According to experts of the seaside branch of the Maritime Rescue Service of Rosmorrechflot, there are about 130 tons of fuel on board.
On November 9, it became known that a ship with Chinese sailors was in distress – a container ship ran aground and broke in half near the village of Priiskovy. Then the Lazurit rescue ship moved out from Vladivostok to help. 14 sailors were evacuated from its board.
On the same day, the governor of Primorsky Krai, Oleg Kozhemyako, announced the need to develop a plan for a rescue operation to dismantle the containers. The Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office organized an investigation into the incident.
