In the city of Taldom, near Moscow, a criminal case has been opened for cruelty to animals after the discovery of cats locked up without food. This was reported on Friday, January 21, in the press service of the Moscow Region Prosecutor’s Office in Telegram.

“During the inspection, it was established that dozens of cats were locked in outbuildings on the territory of a private household in Taldom-2 SNT in the village of Karachunovo, which remained without food until January 17, 2022. As a result, at least two animals died, and a number of cats were emaciated, ”the press service of the department reports.

Earlier, on October 22, 2021, in the private shelter “Dora”, which belongs to the animal rights activist Yuri Shamarin in Voronezh, there was a massacre of dogs. According to preliminary information, someone entered the territory of the shelter and killed about 20 animals. Some of them were poisoned, some, according to eyewitnesses, had bullet wounds, some had their throats cut.

In the same month, in the city of Chekhov near Moscow, one and a half hundred dogs became victims of dog hunters – they were poisoned with a poisonous mixture of several substances. As Izvestia was informed, the poison contained arsenic, zinc, lead, and even psychotropic substances. Created by dog ​​hunters, the poison tore the lungs of the animals from the inside. According to the shelter, as a result of poisoning, 16 animals died, another 160 were paralyzed.

In September 2022, a law on mandatory labeling and registration of pets will come into force in Russia. Accounting for animals subject to labeling will be carried out within the time limits set by the government, but not earlier than March 1, 2023.
