On January 21, the Khoroshevsky Court of Moscow detained Vladimir Tokarev, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, in a case of fraud on an especially large scale.
“Satisfy the petition for the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention against Tokarev,” the court announced.
Tokarev was placed in custody for a period of 1 month and 27 days – until March 18.
According to the investigation, from 2016 to 2018, Tokarev, being the first deputy general director of Spetstransstroy LLC, in order to steal money from this organization, involved a number of persons from the management of this company, Glavstroyinvest LLC and other affiliated organizations in illegal activities.
In addition, on January 21, the media, citing a source, reported that Tokarev, together with his accomplices, organized the conclusion of fictitious agreements to withdraw money from the accounts of a company controlled by him, and also committed misuse of funds allocated for the reconstruction of the railway section in the Krasnodar Territory.
The damage in the case of fraud against Tokarev and his accomplices exceeds 500 million rubles.
On January 19, police and FSB officers took Tokarev to the transport department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Central Federal District. On January 20, a criminal case was opened against Tokarev for fraud on an especially large scale.
According to Izvestia, in the same case, the security forces earlier detained the former head of the company, Yuri Reilyan.
Tokarev has been Deputy Minister of Transport since January 26, 2021. Since May 2020, the official has headed the Federal Agency for Railway Transport. From 2016 to 2018, he served as First Deputy General Director of Spetstransstroy LLC.
