In this way, the “angel of death” will serve his sentence more laxly in Unit No. 25 of the Buenos Aires Penitentiary Service (SPB) once a vacancy is released.

The resolution was made by the judge Oscar Roberto Quintana of Chamber I of the Court of Appeals and Criminal Guarantees of San Isidro, who was in charge of evaluating the request made by Puch’s official defense to incorporate him into the open system of serving the sentence.
Among the grounds, the defense attorney pointed out that “the institutional performance reports of the inmate, currently housed in Prison Unit 26, indicate that he is a calm person who does not generate conflicts with his peers.”
The granted regime provides for “a living space with an adequate level of privacy without uniformed guard, perimeter walls, bars or other forms of containment,” the judge explained in the ruling.
Puch, 72 years old, and imprisoned for more than 50 years, was sentenced to life imprisonment for committing 11 crimes between March 15, 1971 and February 3, 1972, when he was 19 years old.
Among his victims were nine watchmen and two women, whom he murdered in cold blood from behind or while they were sleeping. All the homicides occurred in the northern area of the Buenos Aires suburbs, without witnesses or traces.
