Susana Balbothe family winery founded in 1999 by the first female winemaker in Argentina, celebrates 25 years of life committed to the spirit of courage of its founder, daring to lead and innovate in an industry full of tradition.
The story begins with the first female winemaker in Argentina. His first steps in Salta, Cafayate, forged a path of courage and an unwavering passion for producing quality wines. Her great challenge in the beginning was to convert Torrontés, the white grape variety native to Argentina, into a world-class wine, for which today she is recognized as “the queen of Torrontés.”
In 1999 Susana fulfilled her dream of founding her own winery and creating wines with her own label. After more than 10 years of constant growth in international markets, another of Susana’s dreams came true when her children, José and Ana, joined the winery. Today, José leads the oenology area and Ana leads the Marketing area. Together with her mother and a team of almost 100 people, they seek to continue this story that Susana began 25 years ago.

In this way, the guests had the opportunity to taste the dishes of Mendoza cuisine, led by chef Flavia Amad live.
Attendees were able to experience the journey of the winery from its beginnings, its evolution and its future perspective through its wines in a timeline represented by labels of the best vintages of the 25 years and that narrated a milestone in the history of the winery.

Susana Balbo He opened his speech by highlighting the pride of celebrating 25 years and the challenge of being able to continue growing, celebrating birthdays and transcending time, “because for Argentina 25 years is enough, but for the world we are a young winery.” The winemaker alluded to the joy she feels that she is currently accompanied by her children who are taking over the company and presented the wine that celebrates the winery’s 25 years: About Us Library Edition Cabernet Sauvignon 2012. It is the harvest in which her two children, José and Ana, joined the family business and made with Susana’s favorite variety, “this strain is always a challenge, because with Malbec we compete with each other, but with Cabernet Sauvignon we compete with the world,” said the winemaker.
José Lovaglio Balboat the moment Director of Oenology and Innovationpresented the wines that made up the timeline that represented the history and future vision of the winery, in which “the milestones of our first years are represented by red wines with the profile similar to that time and we end with white wines, which are our evolution in recent years presenting innovative labels that show the oenological commitment that we have been making.”
“We are a winery that likes to consider itself modern within the traditional and traditional within the modern”; stated Ana Lovaglio Balbo, Marketing Director. “We value the past but looking at the future, we distinguish ourselves by innovation, that is why we face the ‘White Revolution’, we believe it is what is coming, at least for us.”

It is a differential characteristic of the winery: “Years ago we had the vision that the consumption trend of white wines was going to grow and we made a bet. Argentina is losing a business opportunity. World historical wine consumption is 50% and 50% and our country exports 85% red and 15% white. Today our winery exports 60% red wines and 40% whites and rosés. “This is projecting with a view to the future,” he explains. Susana Balbo.
