Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed to transfer the criminal case on the death of a girl in Transbaikalia after a dog attack to the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. A message about this appeared on the evening of January 22 on the website of the department.

“In connection with the wide public outcry associated with the death of a seven-year-old girl in the Trans-Baikal Territory, whose body was found today with traces of an animal attack, the head of the department instructed to transfer the criminal case for organizing further investigation to the production of investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia,” the statement reads. message.

The Investigative Committee also instructed the investigators to take comprehensive measures to establish all the circumstances of the case, including verification of information from local residents, as well as to give an objective legal assessment of the actions of the regulatory authorities.

The statement about the missing girl was received by the police tonight at about 17:00 Moscow time. Half an hour later, during the search in one of the wastelands, her body was found. During the inspection, traces of animal attacks were revealed on it. It is believed that the child was the victim of an attack by stray dogs.

On the fact of the death of a child, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Negligence, negligently resulting in the death of a person”).

After reports of the tragedy appeared in the media, a popular gathering took place in the region. Local residents claimed that the problem with stray animals in this area was not solved for many years. According to them, people repeatedly complained about this lawlessness, but no measures were taken. The governor of the region, Alexander Osipov, at a meeting with residents, said that he would seek changes to the federal law regulating the trapping of homeless animals.

Earlier that day, local media reported that the attack took place in the village of Domna when the girl was returning home from a music school through the private sector.

In October, an English bull terrier attacked kindergarten students in Arkhangelsk. Two children and one teacher were injured. On two more boys, the dog tore their clothes.
