Why is Monday, November 18, a holiday?
The truth is that tomorrow it is commemorated holiday in Argentina due to the commemoration of National Sovereignty Day, which is celebrated every November 20 in memory of the Battle of Vuelta de Obligado, which occurred in 1845.

This holiday was moved to Monday, November 18 due to a regulation that establishes that national holidays that fall on a Tuesday or Wednesday must be moved to the previous Monday.
The Battle of the Vuelta de Obligado pitted the national forces of the Argentine Confederation, led by Juan Manuel de Rosas, against a coalition of France and Great Britain, who were trying to invade Argentine territory. The battle was fought in Parana Riverwhere Argentine forces, despite their technological and military disadvantage, resisted the invasion with an innovative strategy, using chains from coast to coast to stop the Anglo-French squad.
This conflict is considered a symbol of the fight for national sovereignty against foreign powers that sought to control trade in the region. National Sovereignty Day was instituted in 1974, and in 2010 it became a national holiday by decree of former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
