Tanker caught fire in the Black Sea

A fire broke out on board a tanker under the flag of the Comoros located in the Black Sea, the crew was evacuated. This was reported on January 23 by RIA Novosti with reference to information from emergency services.

The fire started on Sunday night while the Almuntazah vessel was five kilometers from Cape Iron Horn. The tanker is carrying over 700 tons of fuel oil.

“There were no casualties, the crew of seven people (citizens of the Russian Federation) were evacuated to the British tugboat under the flag of Moldova,” the emergency services noted.

From Novorossiysk, two multifunctional rescue vessels “Rescuer Demidov” and “Mercury” arrived at the scene of the fire.

The ship is currently at anchorage, no casualties were reported.

In October, two people were injured in an explosion on the Semyon Dezhnev oil tanker in the Irkutsk region. The incident occurred in the waters of the Lena River.

On August 8, a fire broke out on a Russian fishing vessel in the Norwegian port of Kirkenes. All 22 crew members were evacuated. As a result of the incident, no one was injured.
