A criminal case was initiated by the Arkhangelsk police after a driver hit a woman with two children, one of whom died. This was reported on January 23 in the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The case was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of the rules of the road and the operation of vehicles, resulting in the death of a person by negligence”). The sanction for it provides for up to five years in prison.
The message about an accident at a pedestrian crossing was received at 18:00 (coincides with Moscow time) on Saturday, January 22. The accident occurred at the intersection of Timme and Smolny Buyan streets.
The Toyota was driven by a driver born in 1978. One child died on the spot, two injured were hospitalized.
The police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident, expert examinations have been appointed.
On January 21, a car hit a woman crossing the road on a zebra crossing in Ryazan. The victim received various injuries, she was hospitalized.
