In correctional colony No. 3 of the Kaluga region, a fight broke out between prisoners, as a result of which one of its participants died. The conflict occurred on January 22 against the backdrop of personal hostility.
The department of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Kaluga Region reported that the injured convict was provided with medical assistance, but the ambulance doctors who arrived on call could only ascertain death.
“On January 22, 2022, in the medical unit of PKU IK-3 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Kaluga Region, a conflict occurred between convicts, during which one of the participants was injured. He was immediately given first aid. However, the arrived ambulance team pronounced the death of the convict. According to preliminary data, the reason for the conflict of the convicts was their personal dislike,” the press service of the department said.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the Kaluga Region has launched a comprehensive check in IK-3 in connection with information that prisoners are using violence against those serving sentences in a correctional colony in the village of Tovarkovo. The Office clarified that a team is now working on the spot under the personal supervision of the Prosecutor of the Kaluga Region Konstantin Zhilyakov, who understands the situation in detail.
In December, it was reported that one person died and five were injured in a fire in a colony near Novgorod. The fire broke out in a cell on the ground floor.
