A impressive fire was registered this afternoon on the company premises INDARSA by Añelo, in Vaca Muerta. According to the first information, the incident that occurred in the town of Neuquén began around 3 p.m. and personnel from Volunteer firefighters and the provincial police intervene at the scene.

While awaiting official confirmation detailing the cause of the fire, a shocking column of smoke could be observed above the oil waste treatment plant located on the Route 17about 10 kilometers from Añelo.

Although, according to the Diario Río Negro, the director of Civil defense of the town, Modesto Muñozconfirmed that the fire occurred in two hydrocarbon containment pools, and that there were no injuries. Likewise, he highlighted that the fire expanded despite the fact that the igneous focus was moderately controlled, and took on a large magnitude.

INDARSA is a plant dedicated to the treatment of waste from the oil industry, a key activity in the energy development of Vaca Muerta. These types of facilities usually handle flammable substances, which increases the risks in cases of fire.
