Twenty ships and vessels of the Baltic Fleet entered the designated areas to practice combat training tasks. This was reported to journalists on Monday, January 24, in the information support department of the fleet.
“Twenty warships, boats and support vessels of the Baltic Fleet left their permanent bases and entered the designated areas of the Baltic Sea to perform tasks as part of planned combat training activities,” the message says.
The ships, united in tactical groups, will carry out tasks for anti-submarine and air defense, as well as mine support for the detachments, writes Gazeta.Ru.
During the exercise, minesweepers, small anti-submarine ships, as well as small missile ships and missile boats will operate as part of tactical groups, the information support department of the fleet added.
On January 20, it became known that more than 140 ships and 60 aircraft will participate in the exercises of the Russian Navy in January-February in all areas of responsibility of the fleets. In addition, it is planned to involve about 10 thousand military personnel in the exercises. A number of exercises will take place in the sea areas adjacent to the territory of Russia. In addition to the Atlantic Ocean, the exercises will be conducted in the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Okhotsk, the North Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.
On January 18, it became known that Russia, Iran and China would hold joint naval exercises. It is planned that during the exercises the ships will visit the seas of several states.
