“Health Update: Finally cancer-free, with gratitude and excitement for a bright future. Thank you for all your support always,” Lungren wrote in his Instagram post.
“I’m at UCLA. I’m about to go in and get rid of that last dead tumor. Since there are no more cancer cells in my body, I assume I will be cancer-free, so I am looking forward to this procedure,” Lundgren said in his Instagram video.
“It has been a hard road and it has really taught me to live in the moment and enjoy every moment of life”he added. “It’s the only way to do it.”

Lundgren, who also starred The Expendables 4 and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomfirst revealed that he had cancer in 2023, on the syndicated interview series In Depth With Graham Bensinger. He said that heand were first diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2015. After surgery, he remained symptom-free for about five years, but during a doctor’s visit during a trip to Sweden in 2020 it was discovered that he had additional tumors in the kidney and liver areas.
At that moment, the actor said, He was diagnosed with terminal cancer with only 2 or 3 years to live.. He says that at that moment he thought, “I’ve had a great life. I’ve lived like five lives in one. So it’s not that I felt bitter, but I felt sorry for my kids and my fiancée.”
Finally, Lundgren sought additional opinion from oncologist Dr. Alexandra Drakaki at UCLA Medical Center and was prescribed a pharmacological treatment developed more recently. Lundgren said the treatment, which he underwent while filming The Expendables 4 and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, had proven effective in rreduce the size of tumors by 90%.
