According to a survey, 9 out of 10 young people have difficulties finding a job

The employment outlook for this sector is difficult. Only 30% of this sector found work in areas of their interest and only 28% accepted a salary offer.

The employment situation in the country is at a delicate moment. 9 out of 10 young people between 18 and 29 years old have difficulties finding work in the country. The data comes from a survey carried out at the regional level.

According to INDEC data, The population between 18 and 29 years old is around 7 million people. This means that 25% of the population has great difficulty finding registered work. A problem that affects the entire region.

Junior Achievement Americas and ManpowerGroup made a survey of 13 thousand young people and more than 500 companies from 14 countries to better understand the work reality of this group. The Argentine chapter provided disturbing data.

According to 70% of the young Argentinians consulted, the main reason why they are not hired is lack of experience, but it’s not the only one. 48% say that incompatibility with schedules is another problem in finding work. Meanwhile, 43% point to the scarcity of offers.

To this panorama, we add the few possibilities to dedicate themselves to tasks that are of interest to them. Only 30% were able to achieve it. In this sense, competitive salary and professional growth do not appear as reasons for choosing a position either. 28% and 15%, respectively, chose these factors as the most important to accept an offer.

Where they look for jobs and the most in-demand areas

The main area by far that most demands young people between 18 and 29 years old is Sales and Customer Service (43%). The next ones are Marketing and Advertising (18%) and Information Technologies (18%).

The job search chapter is interesting. As expected, Social networks are the main place of search, according to 90% of those surveyed. They are followed by Family and Friends (69%) and company websites (51%).
