Members of the hacker group The Infraud Organization on Monday, January 24, entered into a pre-trial cooperation agreement and testified against its alleged founder Andrei Novak, who was put on the wanted list by the FBI for cyber fraud.
“Some of the defendants gave confessions during the interrogation, including the alleged founder of the hacker group Andrey Novak, who was arrested last week. They are actively cooperating with the investigation, the Tver Court in Moscow chose house arrest for them, ”TASS quotes the words of its source in law enforcement agencies.
The interlocutor of the agency did not provide details about the criminal case.
On January 22, the FSB conducted an operation in Moscow against The Infraud Organization, arresting the founder of the hacker group Andrei Novak (who operated under the nicknames Unicc, aka Faaxxx), wanted in the US for cyber fraud. Three alleged members of the group were placed under house arrest. A case has been initiated under Articles 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal access to computer information”) and 187 (“Illegal turnover of means of payment”).
Investigators filed petitions with the court for the arrest of a group of people. The petitions were granted on Friday evening. Among those arrested is Andrey Novak, one of the founders of The Infraud Organization. The court also arrested a member of The Infraud, an Estonian citizen Kirill Samokutyaev. In 2018, he was sentenced to a fine due to his detention at Sheremetyevo with €56,000.
The Infraud platform, which provides services for fraudulent Internet crimes, was created in 2010 by Ukrainian Svyatoslav Bondarenko. Infraud members and partners have worked throughout the world and in the US. The group allegedly planned to steal some $2.2 billion from individuals, merchants and financial institutions.
