The Minister of Justice, Mariano Cúneo Libaronaannounced the implementation of the Federal Criminal Procedure Code in the jurisdiction of the Federal Chamber of Comodoro Rivadavia, which includes the provinces of Chubut, Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands. “There are already 12 provinces where we demonstrate that Justice can be swift and relentless against criminals,” said the minister. “The era of eternal judgments has come to an end. Now criminals are arrested in a matter of hours. Impunity has no place in this Argentina. The joke is over,” he added.

With this latest extension in 2024, the adversarial system is now in force in 12 provinces, with the goal of achieving national implementation by the end of 2026. In this regard, Cúneo Libarona indicated that “this implementation marks a milestone in our commitment to transform the judicial system, ending eternal trials, reducing judicial bureaucracy and quickly imprisoning the most dangerous criminals.”

Next, he explained that “before December 2023, the adversarial system was only operational in Salta and Jujuy, with insufficient infrastructure that limited its reach.” However, he assured that “in just 11 months the government allocated more than $4,367 million to equip 23 courtrooms with cutting-edge technology, including digital recording cameras, microphones and forensic systems such as UFED licenses, used to extract encrypted data from phones. cell phones.”

Additionally, he stated that “these investments were accompanied by intensive training sessions, mock hearings and agreements with provinces such as Mendoza and Neuquén, which will facilitate access to forensic laboratories for federal investigations.” He added that “in addition, the Ministry managed training with national and international experts and organized immersions for judges, prosecutors and defenders in jurisdictions where the adversarial system already operates successfully.”

In this sense, the head of the Justice portfolio elaborated: “These initiatives ensure that judicial operators are fully prepared to face the demands of this new model, which prioritizes orality, speed and transparency.”

Finally, he assured that “the transformation is forceful: criminals who previously hid behind bureaucracy today face trials in a matter of hours.” And he concluded: “This historic revolution, led by President Javier Milei, puts an end to decades of impunity and guarantees a modern, fast judicial system at the service of good Argentines.”
