This feat was accomplished on November 13, 1943. The man, born in Godoy Cruz, was 32 years old at the time of the epic and had already won countless races such as the Double Chivilcoy, the Buenos Aires-Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires-Rosario , Double Junín, Double Pergamino, Double Cañuelas, Double Campana, Double La Plata, among others.

Not content with having done it once, 38 years later he decided to repeat it. He December 5, 1981once again made the adventure of traveling from Mendoza capital to Buenos Aires. So, in honor of that feat and his impeccable career, it was decided that the December 5 was declared Cyclist’s Day in the Argentine Republic.

The first time, in 1943, Remigio went from Mendoza to Panamericana Avenue and General Paz, at the entrance to the Federal Capital. He made the trip behind a car with a screen that blocked the wind. It took only 17 hours, 55 minutes and 3 seconds. 38 years later, at the age of 70, Don Remigio would try again, achieving it successfully.
