The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) of Russia has put the brother of blogger Alexei Navalny (included by Rosfinmonitoring in the register of organizations and individuals involved in extremist activity or terrorism) Oleg on the federal wanted list. The relevant data appeared on Wednesday, January 26, in the database of the department.
“Oleg Navalny, born on April 9, 1983, is wanted under the article of the Criminal Code (Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. – Ed.),” the agency’s database says.
A day earlier, the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) demanded that Oleg Navalny’s probation be replaced with a real one.
According to the card file of the Moscow City Court, Oleg Navalny is being asked to cancel his conditional sentence “due to failure to fulfill his duties, evading compensation for harm or committing a new crime.”
The blogger’s brother was given a one-year suspended sentence on August 6, 2021. The investigation found that he called on the townspeople to participate in an unauthorized action, thus creating a threat of a mass infection with coronavirus.
On January 23, 2021, uncoordinated actions took place in different cities of Russia. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, there were children among the detainees. In addition to this, it turned out that some participants in unauthorized actions were sick with COVID-19. They were isolated at the place of residence in connection with the diagnosis. Investigators opened a criminal case on this fact.
On August 6, the FBK and Navalny’s Headquarters were included in the list of banned organizations in Russia, the Moscow City Court recognized these organizations as extremist. In addition, the court decided to turn FBK’s property into state ownership.
On January 25, 2022, Alexei Navalny was included by Rosfinmonitoring in the register of organizations and individuals involved in extremist activities or terrorism. According to the law, banks freeze the funds of persons included in this list and suspend services.
