A criminal case was opened after the death of a man from a dog attack in Astrakhan

In the Astrakhan region, a criminal case was opened after the attack of stray dogs on a 58-year-old local resident, the investigative department of the ICR for the region reports on Wednesday.

“On January 26, not far from the Energetik garage cooperative in the Volga region, a pack of stray dogs attacked a local resident who was on his way to work. The victim died at the scene from his injuries,” the statement said.

Upon the death of a man, a case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“negligence”).

The investigation will give a proper legal assessment of the actions of officials who are responsible for the measures to capture stray animals in the region.

The course of the investigation is under the special control of the head of the investigative department of the TFR, Lieutenant General of Justice Ibragim Mogushkov.

Over the weekend, January 23, a pack of dogs attacked a 30-year-old man in Yakutsk. The flock ran up unexpectedly when the man went outside to meet a friend.

Earlier, on January 21, it was reported about the attack of a pack of dogs on a seven-year-old girl in the village of Domna, Trans-Baikal Territory. Animals attacked a schoolgirl when she was returning home from a music school through the private sector. A criminal case has been initiated into the death of the girl. Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed to transfer the case to the Main Investigation Department of the department.
