An earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred on January 27 in the Aniva region in the south of Sakhalin. This was announced on Thursday in the regional branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 was registered on Thursday at 16:59 local time (08:59 Moscow time), the epicenter was located 7 km east of the village of Yasnomorskoye, Anivsky district, at a depth of 18 km,” the report says.
According to experts, residents of the settlements did not contact the special services. Sakhalin residents did not feel the seismic event.
On January 21, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 occurred in Dagestan. The tremors were felt by the inhabitants of the city of Kaspiysk. Information about the destruction and casualties has not yet been received.
On the same day, an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 was recorded near the South Kuriles in the Pacific Ocean. The epicenter of the shock was located 80 km east of the village of Malokurilskoye on Shikotan Island. The focus depth was 58 km.
