Russia will create an air control center for drones

The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) will receive an air control center for strike drones. The creation of a drone control center was reported to Izvestia on Thursday, January 27, in the Russian Defense Ministry.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited on Thursday the first specialized plant for the production of large unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Dubna, built by the Kronstadt company.

Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces Sergey Surovikin presented the minister with a promising workplace for a drone operator, which will allow him to control 16 devices at a time. When Shoigu drew attention to the need to create an air control center for drones, the commander-in-chief confirmed its development.

“The same equipment will be installed at the air control center,” Surovikin replied.

Also on this day, the first flight model of the Orion reconnaissance and strike drone with satellite communications was presented to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, at a special plant in Dubna. The satellite communication unit allows you to significantly increase the range of the device, as it will be able to operate outside the zone of direct radio visibility of the ground control station

Earlier, military analyst Vladislav Shurygin, in an interview with Izvestia, said that not only heavy combat drones, but also a huge number of small devices would appear in the Russian troops. They will be able to work on the front line in the near rear, to eliminate military equipment and even individual fighters.
