Villa Pehuenia was founded in 1989 with the sale of lots at low prices by the Neuquén government to promote this almost unknown area at the time. To get to this town by car from the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, first of all, you have to reach the town of Zapalawhere you can reach with the RN 205 and RN 20. Then, there are 3 options to get to Villa Pehuenia:
By Route 13
- Called First Pines. There are 120 km in total of which 55 km are gravel.
- Route: At the exit from Zapala you will find a first roundabout, in this one you turn to the right as if going towards Las Lajas and a few km later a second roundabout in which you turn to your left which is Route 13. (there is a sign) to Pehuenia.
By Route 23
- Called Pino Hachado. There are 155 km of which 35 are gravel.
- Route: At the exit from Zapala you will find a first roundabout, at this turn right as if going towards the town of Las Lajas and 6 km further on, the route to the Pino Hachado International Pass emerges on your left and about 500 meters before the pass Route 23 leaves on the left until Pehuenia.
On Route 46
- Called the Rahue. There are 210 km of which 50 are gravel (in two sections).
- Route: at the exit from Zapala you will find a first roundabout in which you turn left as if going to San Martín de los Andes, after a few km route 46 leaves on your right (the first route that appears) that passes through Parque National Laguna Blanca, you reach Aluminé and from there take Route 23 to Pehuenia.
