How banks, gas stations and supermarkets work on New Year’s Eve

December 31 and January 1 are special days, where the functioning of some essential things changes. One of those days is a working day, although some workers have a holiday.

How banks work

He Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) decided to grant holiday for your staff on December 24 and 31, inviting the country’s financial entities to adhere to this measure. As a result, banks do not provide service to the public on Tuesday, January 31st or Wednesday, January 1st.

Supermarkets operate normally on December 31although many of them close earlier, usually around 6:00 p.m., to allow their employees to get home in time for New Year’s dinner.

On January 1st, large commercial chains will remain closeds, with few exceptions in some localities.
