From the stage, the leader of the Chavista regime repeated the words of the slogan: “Maduro is Perón’s soldier.” The Venezuelan president participated in the closing ceremony of the International Anti-Fascist World Festival for a New World, a meeting that brought together militants from various parts of the world. In the audience, flags of countries such as Bolivia, Ecuador, Russia, Chile, Palestine and Argentina waved, while different accents mixed in the initial greeting.

Curious about one of the songs, Maduro addressed the public and asked them to repeat it: “What was the song like? Let’s see”he said, encouraging the audience from the stage.
“Attention, attention! Maduro, Perón’s soldiers greet you”a dozen people carrying an Argentine flag chanted from the audience. Maduro, excited, took the initiative and adapted the chant: “Attention, attention! Maduro is also a Perón soldier!” he exclaimed, pointing to himself to emphasize the message. The phrase became a chorus that he repeated several times while those present applauded and celebrated him.
Maduro and Maradona’s watch: “We all go with Diego’s rebellion”
The Venezuelan leader made an additional nod to Argentina by displaying a symbolic object. “Look what I brought,” he said, raising his left arm as he rolled up his shirt sleeves. On his wrist, a luxurious watch came into view. “Take it there, camera,” he ordered to make sure the audience could see him clearly.
With pride, Maduro explained: “This is Diego Armando Maradona’s watch, which he gave me during the close of the 2018 campaign.” In an effusive tone, he added: “Maradona with us! Present!”
The public responded with chants in honor of the soccer star. “Diego, Diego!” they chanted, while Maduro joined the familiar rhythm: “Olé, olé, olé, olé, Diego, Diego,” he sang into the microphone. He closed the moment exclaiming: “We all go with Diego’s rebellion.”
