The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrichhighlighted a drop in the homicide rate in Argentina and pointed out that in 2024 there were 3.8 per 100 thousand inhabitants. He assured that it is a “historical rate” since this figure is the “lowest since statistics have been available.”
Through a publication on her “Last year, during the Kirchner government, the number was 4.4,” he said against Alberto Fernández’s management.

Homicide report in Argentina in 2024
The data provided by Bullrich emerged from a preliminary report prepared by the National Criminal Information System (SNIC).
The sharpest drop in homicides was recorded in Rosario, which had been the epicenter of a sharp escalation in drug violence last year. With these figures, Argentina became the second country in the region with the lowest homicide rate, only behind El Salvador, which has been applying an extremely heavy-handed policy.
On the other hand, the report specified that 52.2% of homicides were carried out through the use of firearms, while 26.7% were carried out with knives. The most common place, in 56.6% of the cases were on public roadswhile the 32% occurred in private homes. He 79.5% of the victims were menhe 16.9% womenand 3.6% undetermined.
