Nutritionist spoke about the rules of drinking coffee with meals

While eating, you can drink natural coffee without additives, including milk-containing products, while remembering the dehydrating properties of the drink. This was told on Wednesday, February 2, nutritionist Antonina Savolyuk.

According to her, the protein and calcium contained in milk and cream can interact with biologically active substances, antioxidants and catechins in coffee, due to which the benefits of the drink may be lost.

“If you drink coffee with fatty foods with animal protein, add milk or cream to the drink, then all its benefits, unfortunately, are lost. Tannin has an additional effect. When interacting with proteins, the substance is difficult to digest, ”RIA Novosti quotes Savolyuk as saying.

She noted that drinking coffee during breakfast or between snacks should be washed down with water, as coffee removes water from the body.

“Coffee is highly dehydrating and slightly “oxidizes” the acid-base balance. It also has a diuretic effect, removes water from the bloodstream. Therefore, a glass of water after a cup of coffee is a habit that will be useful for everyone, ”the source said.

According to the nutritionist, health contraindications play an important role in the issue of drinking coffee.

“For example, you can’t drink it at the risk of osteoporosis, hypertension, or the presence of cocci in the body. If the doctor forbade drinking coffee, then, of course, in this case, you should listen to your treating specialist. It is not recommended to drink strong coffee for people diagnosed with gastritis, peptic ulcer, ”she explained.

Those who are not forbidden to drink coffee by medical contraindications can combine the use of this drink with desserts, it can be a slice of chocolate or dried fruits, concluded Antonina Savolyuk.

In any case, you must first consult with a specialist.

In January, the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research published data from studies by scientists from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, according to which there is a relationship between coffee consumption and the risk of developing endometrial cancer (uterine cancer).

According to scientists, those women who drank the most coffee suffered from endometrial cancer 29% less often than those who drank less or did not drink it at all. At the same time, the method of preparing coffee (filtered or boiled) did not play a special role.
