Crab fishing ship sank at the berth of the port of Zarubino in Primorye

The crab fishing vessel “Akvanavt” sank on Wednesday, February 2, at the berth of the port of Zarubino in Primorye, one person died, 14 crew members were evacuated.

The incident occurred at about 10:00 (03:00 Moscow time) at the berth of the Zarubinsk Fleet Base. The fishing vessel “Akvanavt” (date of construction – 1980, port of registry – Vladivostok) followed from the voyage task and began to sink during unloading. It was completely submerged within a few minutes.

According to Izvestia, the director of the seaside branch of the Federal State Institution “Marine Rescue Service of Rosmorrechflot” Ivan Agarevsky, as a result of the incident, a senior mechanic died, his body was removed from the ship. The captain of the ship was hospitalized with hypothermia.

At the same time, the representative of the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office specified that there are 16 tons of fuel on board the crab vessel. Its spill has not been reported.

The Primorsky Transport Prosecutor’s Office began checking compliance with the safety of navigation on the fact of the crash.

Earlier, on January 4, the crew of the cargo ship “Grigory Lovtsov” in the Sea of ​​Okhotsk gave a distress signal and requested evacuation due to ice formation. According to preliminary data, there was a threat of damage to the ship’s hull as a result of ice exposure. Eight people were on board and were not injured.
