AST has published a new novel by the writer Dina Rubina “Maniac Gurevich” – a collection of tragicomic stories about a psychiatrist who emigrated to Israel.
The prose writer explained the appearance of an atypical thing for herself with a desire to console and cheer the reader, who is forced to survive in an alarming information field full of “hospital” news.
“We all felt, perhaps for the first time, that we belonged to a globally defenseless fraternity of potential patients. In fact, we have been in social depression for more than two years, not fully realizing this,” said Dina Rubina in an interview with Izvestia.
The writer added that with the new book she wanted to “at least for the period of reading, take readers out of the pandemic (panic) situation, somewhere to laugh, somewhere just to mentally hug, like hugging a frightened child.”
