The prosecutor’s office of the Novgorod region began an investigation after reports appeared on the Web about the invasion of wild dogs in the region. This is stated on Tuesday, February 1, on the website of the department.
According to local residents, dogs run around even on playgrounds, which is dangerous for kids.
“The regional prosecutor’s office will evaluate the compliance of local authorities with the powers to carry out activities when handling animals without owners, including the creation of places for their subsequent maintenance,” the message says.
According to the press service of the supervisory agency, according to the results of the check, the prosecutor’s office will respond appropriately to the presence of dogs.
Earlier Tuesday, investigators launched a pre-investigation check after a stray dog attacked a 16-year-old boy in the village of Coal Mines in Chukotka. Over the past month, another similar incident occurred in the region.
In the same village, on January 29, a pack of stray dogs attacked a 15-year-old girl.
On January 31, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Primorsky Territory developed amendments to the bill on stray animals, they are planned to be adopted at the next meeting of the regional parliament.
On the same day, the governor of Primorye, Oleg Kozhemyako, signed a decree on the introduction of a high alert regime in the region in connection with the activity of stray dogs and cases of attacks on people. The relevant document is posted on the official Internet portal of legal information.
