In St. Petersburg, the cat-mascot of the Anna Akhmatova Museum died

In St. Petersburg, the cat Osya died, who had lived in the Fountain House for more than 15 years and was considered its symbol and guardian. This was announced on Wednesday, February 2, on the page of the Anna Akhmatova Museum on VKontakte.

“Friends! The Axis cat, our talisman and guardian, is gone. For more than a decade and a half, Osya lived in the Fountain House, met visitors, took strokes, walked around the garden and for many became a symbol of our museum, ”the message says.

A few months ago, Osya was taken home by one of the museum employees.

The cat has repeatedly become the hero of television reports and publications in the media, and also became a character in the book “This cat is registered in the center” and the play “Wake the Cat”.

In November 2021, the cat Serafima from the Hermitage of St. Petersburg was transferred to work in the Peter and Paul Cathedral. Seraphim will catch rats and mice not only in the cathedral, but also in the Peter and Paul Fortress.

Museum staff noted that the cat Kapitolina, who had been catching rodents for more than 20 years, died in the fall.
